Everyday in America 40,000 people miss school or work, 30,000 people have an asthma attack, 5,000 people visit the emergency room, 1,000 are admitted to the hospital and 11 people die due to asthma (www.aaaai.org).

Asthma Treatment

Asthma is a very serious condition that is treated by the  medical profession by the use of inhaled corticosteroids such as Pulmicort, Flovent, and QVAR. Other stronger inhaled medications you have heard of are Singular, Advair and Symbicort. On March 28th 2008, the FDA found that Singulair had a link between the drug’s use and changes to behavior and mood, suicide, suicidal thinking, depression, tremors and anxiousness. In 2005, Advair was issued a “black box” warning because of the active ingredient Salmeterol which increases the chance of asthma related deaths, the very disease that it is suppose to treat. Formoterol fumarate dehydrate and budesonide are the active ingredients in Symbicort and both are on black box warning list!
