Rapids Crowned Major League Soccer Champs!
November 29 2010

For the first time in franchise history, the Colorado Rapids took home the MLS Cup after a 2-1 win, in overtime, over the FC Dallas in chilly Toronto last Sunday. A scrappy goal made by Rapids’ Conor Casey tied the game in the second half after FC Dallas led 1-0. Macoumba Kandji, who came in as a sub for Omar Cummings, scored the go ahead (and game winning) goal after the ball deflected off FC Dallas and into the net. There were several close FC Dallas scoring attempts after Colorado took the lead, but goal keeper Matt Pickens was on top of his game and made several huge saves. The championship was laced with aggressive play on both sides but the Rapids finally, since their last MLS Cup appearance 13 years ago, experienced their deserved share of triumph that has brought celebration to the state of Colorado.
Since 1997, the Rapids have attempted to reinvent almost every aspect of their program. They have changed their logo twice, their coach four times, have altered their team colors (to blue and burgundy from blue and green), yet remained behind the curtain and spotlight year after year as other leagues paved their way to success. Until this season, nothing had seemed to do the trick.
This year has marked the first time Maximized Living’s Wellness Advisory Council Chiropractors have provided care and adjustments to the Denver team’s players. Coincidence? Maybe; however, the Council has continually proven to help athletes break records, recover faster, prevent injuries, and win medals in the USA Judo, USA Wrestling, USA Weightlifting, MMA, and CrossFit world and may have easily played the integral role in the Rapids’ journey to MLS stardom.
After returning from the MLS Cup Dr. Joseph Arvay, the leader of the Wellness Advisory Council for the Rapids, expressed, “...even though it was cold, it was a blast being there and taking care of the team. This season has been an amazing ride and we can’t wait for next year to defend the Cup!” Dr. Arvay, as well as the rest of the Wellness Advisory Council members located across the US, want to make it clear that the care provided to the MLS Champs can also be provided to anyone. In fact, that is the cornerstone of the Council: to make a positive impact on the health of all athletes and develop life-long well-being that extends beyond their competitive careers.
As for the Colorado Rapids, Maximized Living eagerly congratulates them on their big win! The Wellness Advisory Council is extremely proud to serve as their official team chiropractors, and is looking forward to a great season together next year.
